The last kilometer is a bit of a struggle, but the most of the climb is moderate and leads hikers through some shady tree-covered areas.
You pass by the ruins of cave dwellings, hordes of Aspen trees, and a volcanic mesa on this 20-mile round.
This flat, lengthy hike can be finished in one or two days despite being very long.
A hike in the fall is especially lovely when the leaves are turning yellow, orange, and red.
Visit Trampas Lakes for an alpine trip that includes snow-capped peaks, lakes at a high elevation, and the occasional mountain goat.
Since the trail rises in elevation by approximately 3,500 feet, snow frequently accumulates at the trail's summit.
Although the path is short, staying the evening at the monument is recommended because daybreak is the best time to do this trail.
